Research Synopsis
I am presently researching a variety of topics involving the drug therapy for patients after heart transplant and left-ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. I am investigating the interplay between the gut microbiome and tacrolimus dosing requirements after heart transplant, as well as the ability of cystatin-C to more accurately estimate renal function in these patients. My group is also researching the optimal anticoagulation regimen to minimize bleeding complications in patients with the newest generation LVAD, as well as the potential for novel therapies to prevent gastrointestinal bleeding.
