The Writing Center’s mission is to support and develop student writing and reading at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University. We complement the classroom instruction of writing in the Writing Program and across the academic disciplines with one-on-one, student-centered tutoring, student writing groups, and writing workshops. We work with students during all stages of the writing process—from understanding an assignment and brainstorming for ideas to developing stronger arguments, critically analyzing and applying course readings, and mastering techniques for proofreading and editing. We are also a central resource on writing for students, faculty, and the rest of the university community.
