Dr. Jaclyn Cusumano received her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island in 2015. She then completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After residency, Dr. Cusumano worked as an antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Massachusetts, where she assisted in developing the hospital’s first antimicrobial stewardship program. Dr. Cusumano then went on to complete a two-year infectious diseases pharmacotherapy research fellowsip at the Providence VA Medical Center, where she also held an Adjunct Assistant Professor position at the University of Rhode Island. Dr. Cusumano completed her teaching certificate with the University of Rhode Island during fellowship.
Dr. Cusumano’s research is focused on the discovery of ideal antimicrobial regimens for multidrug resistant bacteria, including penicillin-resistant ampicillin-susceptible Enterococcus faecalis and Klebsiella pneumoniae, as well as identification of antimicrobial pharmacodynamic targets through in vitro modeling.
