Millions of Americans suffer from some form of speech, language or hearing disorder and require specialized therapy or rehabilitation services. This creates a high demand for trained professionals to assist adults and children in overcoming their communication difficulties.
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at LIU Post is dedicated to the advancement of the diagnosis and treatment of speech, language and hearing problems. The department offers a comprehensive bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.The program prepares students in the prerequisites needed to pursue a career helping people overcome communication difficulties that may affect their social, school and job related happiness and success.
The master’s education program in speech-language pathology at LIU Post is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Blvd, #310, Rockville MD 20850, (800) 498-2071 or (301) 296-5700.
The Master’s Program in speech-language pathology prepares students to be eligible for New York State licensure, ASHA certification and New York State Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities certification. The program encourages high academic, clinical and ethical standards focused on individual mentoring, client/family centered care, strong foundational knowledge, evidenced – based practice and research.

Students observe and participate in clinical sessions with real clients at the Jerrold Mark Ladge Speech and Hearing Center, located on campus. The Ladge Speech and Hearing Center offers a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for children and adults individually and/or in small groups.
